Discover The Pirate´s Adventure At Bluefields Nicaragua!

Bluefields Nicaragua, - Previously called Mosquito Coast, Bluefields is a picturesque port between the Caribbean Sea and high mountain ranges. It was Portuguese that founded Bluefields in 1730, but later slipped into the hands of British rule and remained so until the later parts of 19th century. English speaking population is predominant in Bluefields due to this colonial relation.

Hurricane Joan, which came at a speed of 135kmph devastated Bluefields Nicaragua in 1988. What we see today is a rebuilt and rising Bluefields. Hurricane Joan buried much of the historical architecture of Bluefields.

If you expect to see any blue fields, you will be largely disappointed. Blue or green, there are few fields in Bluefields, Nicaragua. There will be rain almost round the year and the short summer season is in May. Electricity and water supply shortages do happen occasionally.

Bluefields Nicaragua can well become the starting point of Nicaragua canal, which if completed will connect the different levels of Pacific and Atlantic waters. Just like the Panama Canal, Nicaragua canal also would need a patrician to prevent the effects of merging two oceans lying at different levels together.

Bluefields lagoon (often said Bluefields Bay) has several small islands and one of them is home to indigenous Rama tribe. Also the highest point of Caribbean coastline, Monkey Point is also located towards the south of BlueFields. This point will become the starting point, if the proposed dry inter-oceanic canal comes up in Nicaragua.

Fishing is the main occupation of people of Bluefields, Nicaragua and the development of Bluefields coasts into a tourist destination is pending. The lifestyle is not too cozy and life for every budget is possible here.

Due to its proximity to Caribbean Sea, the climate is almost stable throughout the year.

For a real adventure, the pirates’ nest at the old Mosquito Coast, offers the best treat. You need to be mentally and physically tough for this adventure. Bluefields is a fairly well developed port-town, where you will find good Internet connections, telephone connections and dedicated electric supply.
